While the current economy is slapped by the worsening financial crisis, it definitely affects everybody most especially the employed by being pressured to do much just to keep their jobs. Companies have initiated by implementing stricter policies and rules to determine those who will be keeping and those who will be losing their jobs.
Aside form these common pressures there are lot more reasons why people tends to get burned out faster. While these factors purpose is to generate improvement in performance and speed from the workers, this also develops chronic stress which can result to a mentally and physically damaging employee.
Chronic stress is the number one cause of absenteeism, ineffectiveness, loss of morale and distrust among co-workers in the workplace. The symptoms can range from anger, anxiety, back pains, chronic fatigue, migraines and heart disorders if left unchecked. Here are some tips on how you will be able to quickly dissipate your stressors before they start building up and wreaking havoc on your work:
Don’t let negative thoughts hibernate on you mind. Dwelling the negativity of others and combine it with your own will bring you into an unwanted trouble and cause you much stress. When you find yourself frequently asking “What if” questions just take a stop and have focus must be done in order to give solution to the problem. Always think that the negativity of your co-workers will just distract you if you give even a bit of attention. Think about all the important things that need to be accomplished for the day rather than wasting your time giving attention to useless things.
Take break because you definitely need it. Monotony can be or great help. If you start to feel that you are beginning to drag your feet on the ground just to get the work done, then you need a break. Take a short walk, or have a cup of coffee or just take a pause and refresh your mind for a couple of minutes. Regulated breaks will refresh your mind and body to face the day’s challenges ahead.
Always be realistic. Some of us actually get into trouble by promising or over-committing ourselves to things that are really impossible to reach or accomplish. While impressing the superior is good but it can develop in to a much pain when you cant hold up your end. Set realistic target for everyday task at work, when you determine that you have lots of workloads don’t commit anymore.
Everybody is hit by stress. For people in the workplace they are especially prone to it.
